Welcome to Lovers of Mystery

Hi guys, my name is Stevie, owner of Lovers of Mystery. And just to give a little background about my affection for mystery, I think back to when my earliest encounters with what I thought was a great mystery movie, I was 9 years old, and the movie was "Clue".

Oh how I obsessed over that movie, I think I can just about recite all the lines. The perfect blend of who-dun-it and comedy.

'Six guests are anonymously invited to a strange mansion for dinner, but after their host is killed, they must cooperate with the staff to identify the murderer as the bodies pile up. - IMDB'

During my youth, I spent a lot of time at my grandmother's home, which means when it came to watching television it was her way or the highway. But lucky enough for me, I pretty much had the same television viewing pleasures that she had. Like detective shows such as Hawaii Five-O with Jack Lord, Magnum PI with Tom Selleck, Barnaby Jones with Buddy Epsen, and The Rockford Files with James Garner.

Hawaii Five-O * TV Series (1968 - 1980)

Crime, Drama, Mystery

The investigations of Hawaii Five-0, an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by stalwart Steve McGarrett.

Magnum PI * TV Series (1980-1988)

Action, Adventure, Crime

The adventures of a Hawaii based private investigator.

The Rockford Files * TV Series (1974 - 1980)

Crime, Drama. Mystery

The cases of an easy going ex-convict turned private investigator.

Barnaby Jones * TV Series (1973 - 1980)

Crime, Drama, Mystery

The exploits of milk-swilling, geriatric private eye Barnaby Jones.

While I did truly enjoy watching these shows, there was one show that I loved and enjoyed watching with my grandmother. A show I still watch today, or should I say binge today. Of course you know who it is, the queen of television who-dun-its....

Murder She Wrote with Angela Lansbury is such a great show. The perfect cozy mystery. If I could be a character in any book it would definitely be Jessica Fletcher.

Hands Down!

She's a mystery writer that travels, dine in some of the finest restaurants, attends lavish events, have probably the greatest network of friends, she in return definitely have her friends back when they're in a predicament, she receives accolades for her books, have a beautifully quaint home in sleepy town of Cabot Cove, Maine, she has a strong sense of fashion, and solves murder cases.

What else could one ask for? Love her.

Murder She Wrote *TV Series (1984 - 1996)

Crime, Drama, Mystery

Professional writer and amateur sleuth Jessica Fletcher uses her intellect, charm, and persistence to get to the bottom of every crime she encounters.

Not until recently, like in the past couple of years did I began an interest in reading mystery novels. And I have since, started a collection of novels. To guess who my favorite writer is maybe not to hard to guess because of my love of Murder She Wrote.

Of course it's Agatha Christie, with my favorite book being, 'And Then There Were None'. This story gripped me by the throat and would not let go through out the entirety of the book. Masterfully written.

And Then There Were None

"Ten . . ." Ten strangers are lured to an isolated island mansion off the Devon coast by a mysterious "U.N. Owen."

"Nine . . ." At dinner a recorded message accuses each of them in turn of having a guilty secret, and by the end of the night one of the guests is dead.

"Eight . . ." Stranded by a violent storm, and haunted by a nursery rhyme counting down one by one . . . one by one they begin to die.

"Seven . . ." Who among them is the killer and will any of them survive?

Just Delicious.

It is my ultimate goal to eventually write my own mystery novel with the same suspense and intrigue that I felt while reading And Then There Were None, but until I then I decided to start this website in hopes for it to steer me into that direction with ideas and inspiration of a great story to tell.
